DistributionScattered across the northern part of the state, from the Mountains to the northeastern Coastal Plain. Specimens from Dare County are P. perfoliatus instead.

Native of Europe; in N.A. nearly throughout the U.S. and southern Canada.
AbundanceRare, as far as is known. Expected elsewhere.
HabitatImpoundments, slow-moving rivers, fish hatchery (McDowell Co.).
Phenology
IdentificationCurly Pondweed has no floating leaves. Submersed leaves are linear to narrowly elliptic, 1.5-3.5 inches long; margins are very wavy. Leaves of P. perfoliatus are much shorter, relatively wider, and much less wavy.
