DistributionTwo specimens were taken from Coker Arboretum (UNC campus, Orange Co.), where undoubtedly planted. B. Sorrie has seen reference to a specimen from Richmond County, but the repository and the details of the collection are not known at this time.

Native of Eurasia. N.A. records are mostly in the north-central states, south only to NC and MO.

HabitatUnknown for the NC record.
PhenologyFlowering and fruiting very early -- January-March (and rarely to April).
