DistributionPost-2000 specimens from Ashe and Watauga counties have been tentatively accepted. Others from Beaufort and New Hanover counties are duplicates of specimens that were annotated to M. suaveolens in other herbaria; and therefore they require up-to-date identifications. Similarly, specimens from Alleghany, Craven, and Washington counties (USDA) also need to have the ID checked.

Native of Europe; in N.A. ME to MI and IL, south to GA, TX, CA.
AbundanceVery rare.
HabitatField, roadside edge of field.
PhenologyFlowering and fruiting June-September.
IdentificationThis taxon is thought to be a horticultural cultivar, but the website editors are not sure of the parent species. It is apparently very similar to M. suaveolens; see the key in Weakley (2018) for differences.
