DistributionThere are 2 records: Currituck County, well established on dunes south of North Swan Beach, 1995, Peet 6827 (NCU); and Dare County, dunes at Nags Head, photographed in 1973 by Graetz.

Native of northeastern Asia; in N.A. Newf. to Ont. and MN, south to FL and LA.
AbundanceVery rare. The population in Currituck County extended for several hundred meters.
HabitatMaritime primary dunes. Although non-native, it is not aggressive to the point of replacing native species in the Maritimes and northeastern states.
PhenologyFlowering and fruiting May-October.
IdentificationBeach Wormwood or Dusty Miller is very distinctive, with its whitish gray, prostrate stems radiating out and curving upwards. The stem leaves are 3-toothed or 3-lobed at the tip, whitish gray above and white beneath. The inflorescences are terminal and yellow-flowered; the leaves in NC are unlobed.
