IdentificationSpreading Chinchweed is a very bushy herb that may lie prostrate or semi-erect. The leaves are abundant, opposite, short and linear, their shape closely resembling Hypericum hypericoides. However, the leaf margins have several eyelash-like hairs on each margin. The flower heads occur singly or in small clusters, generally cylindrical, the rays and disks yellow and very small. This is one of the few composites in the state that is essentially mat-forming and has small yellow flowers.
