DistributionThis taxon is rare in the Mountains. The website editors have not determined the varietal ID of all specimens at SERNEC.

"Widespread from eastern Canada and Great Lakes area to New England, s. from MN to n. MO, OH, PA, extending along the Appalachians in WV, VA and NC" (Weakley 2022).
AbundanceThe NCNHP is tracking this taxon at the full species level, and no longer at this taxon level; in late 2024 it added it to its Watch List. As expected, taxa within this species are difficult to identify.
