DistributionThis taxon is reported by Weakley (2020) as "The core range appears to be the Blue Ridge of nw. NC and adjacent VA, but entire range is unclear due to a marginal morphological distinction from the typical species." SERNEC contains specimens from Ashe and Buncombe counties, but other Mountain counties are likely.
AbundanceThe NCNHP has placed the taxon on its Watch List in late 2024.
HabitatAshe County: "Saddle between peaks of Phoenix Mountain."
