Author(Kunze) M. Kato
DistributionReported as an escape in the southwestern mountains by K. A. Bradley (Weakley 2022). There seem to be no specimens in collections, however.

Native to southeastern Asia. Introduced/naturalized in a number of Southeastern U.S. states, north to NC.
AbundancePresumed extremely rare.
Habitat"Swamp forests, wet hammocks, moist banks, disturbed areas" (Weakley 2022).
PhenologyJune to October.
IdentificationSeparated from the native D. acrostichoides by the leaf blade widest at the base instead of the blade narrowed to the base in the native species. Based on photographs on Google, identification of this exotic species even by experienced biologists might well be difficult, as it looks like so many other ferns.
