| Distribution | Piedmont and Coastal Plain, rare in the Mountains. Collected for the first time in the state in 2022, in Anson County (specimen at NCU). However, the number of iNat images suggests that this species has been in NC for some time but has passed under the radar.

| Habitat | "Roadside, adjacent to crop fields" in NC. Presumably a species of thickets and edges, as with nearly all Ipomoea species. | |
| Phenology | NC specimen was in bloom in the latter half of September. | |
| Identification | This morning-glory has small flowers, about the size of the native I. lacunosa -- with the corollas only 3/5-1-inch long. Flowers are lavender-pink with a dark red center, as opposed to white in I. lacunosa. The leaves are variable in shape; some are three-lobed, whereas others are cordate with no evidence of side lobes. | |
