Distribution | Collected in 2021 (NCU) by Mark and Myra Basinger in Wilson County, and photographed by Bryan England in Wake County in 2025. The iNaturalist website has at least one photo from NC that seems to confirm this exotic species -- New Hanover County -- if not a few others without an inflorescence visible.
This is a native of Eurasia. There are records for a handful of western U.S. states, plus a few in the eastern states.
Abundance | Extremely rare. All NC records since 2019.
Habitat | Various disturbed areas.
Phenology | Flowers and fruits from April to June.
Identification | See the key in Weakley (2024a). Compared with Pseudognaphalium species, this one has definitely yellowish flowers and phyllaries. It also flowers in the spring, as opposed to the fall season.
Taxonomic Comments | NatureServe and some other sites consider this as Pseudognaphalium luteoalbum.
