DistributionThe SERNEC database (as of June 2020) contains no specimens labelled as Rudbeckia triloba var. rupestris, but Weakley (2022) indicates it is common in the NC Mountains; and the NC NHP lists it as a Watch List taxon with a state rank of S1, occurring in "forests at high elevations", with only Mitchell County named.

Restricted to mountains of KY, NC, and TN.
