DistributionNorthern Mountains only. A specimen from Forsyth County does not state whether growing wild or cultivated. First collected in 1908 at Blowing Rock, Watauga County, by A. Cuthbert.

PhenologyFlowering June-August.
IdentificationThis is a tall plant, 2-3 feet high, with ovate, pointed, cordate-based basal and lower leaves. Middle and upper stem leaves are much narrower and eventually non-cordate. The racemes of pale blue to lavender flowers grow on long axillary stalks and tend to face somewhat downward or are dangling.
