DistributionMountains and Piedmont, northern Coastal Plain; disjunct to Pender County where it occurs in a few calcareously influenced savannas and to a roadside in Pitt County. Identification of specimens from several other Coastal Plain counties proves to be E. quercifolius (August 2019).

Newf. to Yuk., south to FL, TX, and CA.
AbundanceUncommon to locally common.
HabitatIn a variety of forest types and woodlands, often along trails, in openings. More often found on roadsides, clearings, fields, meadows. A few calcareously influenced Longleaf Pine savannas in Pender County.
PhenologyFlowering and fruiting April-June.
IdentificationRather like Annual Fleabane, but Philadelphia Fleabane has well-developed basal leaves at and beyond flowering time. Rays may be pink or white. The heads are wider than those of Oakleaf Fleabane, with rays 5-10 mm long (vs. 2.5-6 mm).
