Comments: Scrobipalpula is a genus that contains an unresolved group of leaf miners that are often referred to as the S. diffluella complex. These include an apparently undescribed species that is sometimes referred to as ‘Scrobipalpula sp. nr. diffluella’ that feeds on Packera, and a second group that may contain one or more species that feed on Erigeron. Here, we refer to these as ‘Scrobipalpula new species 1 - on Packera’ and ‘Scrobipalpula new species 2 - on Erigeron’. We use these as place holder names so that submitters who find Scrobipalpula mines on these host plants can enter records. We encourage all to rear the adults whenever possible.
