Distribution in North Carolina
Distribution: As of 2025, this species has been found at scattered localities in Louisiana, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Washington, DC (Eiseman, 2022). We have scattered records from the Coastal Plain and eastern Piedmont.

Habitats and Life History
Habitats: This species appears to strongly rely on Common Waxmyrtle as a host, which is commonly found is association brackish or freshwater edge habitats, wet pinelands and maritime forests.
Larval Host Plants: All of our records as of 2025 are for Common Waxmyrtle (Morella cerifera), Except for an empty mine that Tracy Feldman found on Southern Bayberry (M. caroliniensis) in North Carolina.
Observation Methods: Local populations are most easily documented by searching for the mines and leaf cut-outs on Common Waxmyrtle.
