Species Status: Described by Dyar (1908) based on seven specimens from Tryon, NC, reared from larvae fed on Ceanothus.

Adult Markings: Dyar described two forms: a dark morph that is very similar to P. elegans, and a light morph that is "bright brownish ocraceous instead of bronzy brown".
Adult ID Requirements: Identifiable only by close inspection of structural features or by DNA analysis.
