Comments: One of sixteen species in this genus that occur in North America north of Mexico (Pohl et al., 2016), twelve of which have been recorded in North Carolina
Identification

Adult Markings: Similar to Euchlaena deductaria but the wings are light cream or clay colored and the outer third of the wings are either darker than the rest of the wing or are clay-colored rather than luteous (Forbes, 1948). The postmedian on the hindwings is often obscure, with the straight and looped portion never both well-defined.
Adult Structural Features: The hindwings are scarcely dentate in the males and only weakly dentate in the females (Forbes, 1948)
Adult ID Requirements: Identifiable from good quality photos of unworn specimens.

Habitats and Life History
Habitats:
Larval Host Plants: Larvae are polyphagous, feeding on many woody species. Wagner et al. (2001) specifically mention alder (Alnus), ash (Fraxinus), basswood (Tilia), birch (Betula), dogwood (Cornus), elm (Ulmus), maple (Acer), New Jersey Tea (Ceanothus americanus), persimmon (Diospyros), Viburnum, and willow (Salix). We do not have any feeding records in North Carolina. - View
