Habitats and Life History
Habitats: North Carolina records come primarily from the Mountains, particularly high elevation forests and cove forests but also from bogs and other herb-dominated habitats.
Larval Host Plants: Polyphagous, feeding on a wide range of woody and herbaceous plants but apparently not on conifers. Wagner et al. (2001) specifically list maple (Acer), hickory (Carya), New Jersey Tea (Ceanothus americanus), Chrysanthemum, dogwood (Cornus), Gladiolus, mint (Mentha), cherry (Prunus), currant (Ribes), rose (Rosa), meadowsweet (Spiraea), American Basswood (Tilia americana), elm (Ulmus), blueberry (Vaccinium), and Viburnum. We do not have any feeding records in North Carolina. - View
