Habitats and Life History
Habitats:
Larval Host Plants: Telamoptilia hibiscivora was thought to be a specialist on Hibiscus species, but David George found a mine on Seaside Mallow (Kosteletzkya pentacarpos) at Fort Macon State Park. J.B. Sullivan subsequently managed to rear a larva from the site and confirm its identity as T. hibiscivora. Tracy Feldman has also reared larvae from mines on Swamp Rosemallow (Hibiscus moscheutos). Both Hibiscus and Kosteletzkya are members of the Malvaceae, which may include other hosts for this species. - View
