Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Wagner et al. (2011) list fields, gardens, croplands, waste places and other early successional habitats as used by this species. Our records come a mix of open and forested sites. Records from mountain summits may represent migrants.
Larval Host Plants: Larvae are highly polyphagous, feeding on many herbaceous and woody plants; several crop species are included (Lafontaine and Poole, 1991; Wagner et al., 2011). Wagner (2005) specifically mentions beets, blueberry, celery, clover, corn, dandelion, lettuce, and tobacco. We do not have any feeding records in North Carolina. - View
