Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Our few records come from a mixture of mesic hardwoods and montane pastures.
Larval Host Plants: Larvae feed mainly on sunflowers (Helianthus), with the following North Carolina species specifically listed: Woodland Sunflower (Helianthus divaricatus), Giant Sunflower (H. giganteus), Sawtooth Sunflower (H. grosseserratus), and Jerusalem Artichoke (H. tuberosus) (Tietz, 1972; Robinson et al., 2010; Wagner et al., 2011).
