Species Status: Named for Black Mountain in Kentucky. Not found in the NC Black Mountains range.

Adult Markings: Members of the genus Nannaria are generally smaller with more subdued coloration than other Xystodesmids. Nannaria blackmountainensis tergites with hot orange/red paranotal spots. Jet black background. Dorsum of collum smooth with orange margin. Compare gonopod with similar Nannaria domestica.
Distribution in North Carolina
Distribution: Nannaria blackmountainensis has a disjunct distribution, one population in the confluence of eastern Kentucky, Tennessee, and western Virginia, and another near the Tennessee/ North Carolina border. In NC, Avery and Watauga counties.
