Habitats: Mixed hardwood forest, forest edge, grassy areas, etc.
Plant Associates:
Behavior: Can be attracted at night with a light.
Comment: Melanoliarus is an extremely challenging genus to identify to species level (for all species except M. humilis, aridus, and placitus), with most species resembling one another; it is one of the most difficult planthopper genera in our region to identify. At this point in time, an identification cannot be determined for most species without a specimen collected and dissected. This page represents individuals of this genus that fall into this category.
