A variable grayish-brown species, sometimes with a broad reddish-black triangular band across the middle of the pronotum and a reddish tip to the pronotum; some individuals may have a greenish tint. This species has a noticeably rounded and elevated pronotum, which is finely punctate pubescent. The tegmina is smoky hyaline with prominent veins and a dark brown tip. The head is very distinctly punctate and sparingly pubescent with short white hairs. Above the black eyes are several small black marks. The legs and underside of the body are ferruginous. Adult males are 8.5 mm long and 4 mm wide, while females are 10 mm long and 5 mm wide. (FSCA), (Kopp & Yonke, 1974)

Pecan (Carya illinoiensis), shagbark hickory (Carya ovata), bitternut hickory (Carya cordiformis), butternut (Juglans cinerea), black walnut (Juglans nigra) (Kopp & Yonke, 1974); adults have additionally been found on C. pallida (sand hickory), Quercus alba (white oak), Q. rubra (northern red oak), Tilia americana (American basswood), and Vernonia (ironweed) (Wallace 2014). |
