description |
The only green leafhopper in the East with smoky wingtips (note that the tips of the wings are not green, as the smoky color isn't always as apparent since it is more a factor of the semi-transparent wing cells). The pronotum and scutellum are yellowish-green; the wing venation is yellow or white. However, this species is variable in color, and individuals typically have very dark bluish-black wings: see 1 and 2. The female pregenital sternite lacks lateral angles and has the posterior margin produced, sloping towards the middle of the sternite; there is a small incision in the middle, which slightly projects, and the whole posterior margin of the sternite is black. The male subgenital plates are broad at the bases, strongly and convexly curving to blunt and broad apexes. Adults are 3.5-4.0 mm long. (DeLong 1948)
