Adult Markings: Claviform spot is large and black or with a heavy black outline, extending to at least the middle of the orbicular or farther (Forbes, 1954). A conspicuous pale streak runs along vein Cu1, from the cell to the postmedian. The orbicular is a horizontal ellipse, with the area of the cell between the orbicular and reniform is not solidly black.
Adult Structural Features: Similar to Feltia tricosa but with antennal setae relatively short and perpendicular to the shaft of the antenna (Rings et al., 1992); in tricosa, the setae are bent and lie parallel to the shaft.
Adult ID Requirements: Identifiable from photos showing hindwings, abdomen, or other specialized views [e.g., frons, palps, antennae, undersides].

Habitats:
Larval Host Plants: Larvae are reportedly highly polyphagous, with hosts including many species of agricultural importance. Heppner (2007) lists Horseradish (Armoracia rusticana), Cabbage (Brassica oleracea), Cucumber (Cucumis sativus), sunflower (Helianthus), Common Apple (Malus domestica), Cultivated Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum), Garden Pea (Pisum sativum), Garden Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), clover (Trifolium), Wheat (Triticum aestivum), and Corn (Zea mays).
