Ancylis virididorsana (Möschler, 1891) - Olive Ancylis

Ancylis virididorsana
Taxonomy
Family:
Tortricidae
Subfamily:
Olethreutinae
P3 Number:
51a0678.1
MONA Number:
3388.40
Species Status: Ancylis virididorsana is one of our most distinctive Ancylis due to the green color of the dorsal portions of the forewings. This species was described from Puerto Rico and was known from the Florida Keys for decades. It appears to be expanding its range and has since been taken in Texas. iNat also has several apparently valid records from Texas eastward to Alabama as of 2025, but none even close to North Carolina. Randy Newman found this species in North Carolina in 2021 at Fort Macon and Tracy Feldman found larvae and reared two adults in 2025 from the same site.
