Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Our records come mainly from semi-wooded residential neighborhoods but usually near mesic slopes or bottomland forests.
Larval Host Plants: Larvae are leaf-tiers of elms (Forbes, 1923; Craighead et al., 1950; Schaffner, 1959; Baker, 1972; Heppner, 2007). The reported hosts include American Elm (Ulmus americana), Slippery Elm (U. rubra) and Rock Elm (U. thomasii). Forbes (1923) and Heppner (2007) reported this species to use hickories, but this needs additional verification. - View
