Adult Markings: Homoeosoma deceptorium closely resembles H. asylonnastes, but the latter differs in being smaller (forewing length = 7.5-9.9 mm versus 10.0-12.5 mm for H. deceptorium). The black patch that follows the whitish antemedial line also tends to be more prominent on H. deceptorium. The males of H. asylonnastes lack a thorn-like process on abdominal segment 8 that is present in H. deceptorium (Goodson and Neunzig 1993).
Adult ID Requirements: Identifiable only by close inspection of structural features or by DNA analysis.
