Habitats and Life History
Habitats: North Carolina records come primarily from open, herb-dominated habitats in the Coastal Plain, with many records from maritime dunes on the barrier islands and from flatwoods, savannas, and sand ridges dominated by Longleaf Pines. A few records also come from peatland habitats.
Larval Host Plants: Larvae have been reported to feed on Myrica gale (Robinson et al., 2010), but given the range of zalissaria in North Carolina, species of Morella look more likely to be the primary hosts in this state. - View
