Metarranthis indeclinata (Walker, 1861) - Pale Metarranthis Moth

Comments: One of thirteen species in this genus currently recognized as occurring in North America north of Mexico (Pohl et al., 2016). Twelve have been recorded in North Carolina.

Adult Markings: Similar to refractaria but indeclilnata but refractaria is slightly larger and the pm line is usually a good indicator. It comes to a real point where the angle breaks and the line up to the costa is longer. All in all it is a more tailored species with all the markings crisper (JBS, pers. obs.)
Adult ID Requirements: Identifiable from good quality photos of unworn specimens.
