Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Forests, woodlands, parks, and yards (Wagner et al., 2001). Our records from natural habitats come mainly from cove forests and northern hardwoods.
Larval Host Plants: Larvae feed on barberry (Berberis spp.), including the native American Barberry (B. canadensis) and introduced species (Wagner et al., 2001). In North Carolina, there is an iNaturalist record (Scott Morris, 2022) of a larva feeding on Japanese Barberry (Berberis thunbergii). - View
