Habitats and Life History
Habitats:
Our records come from both lake and river shorelines.
Larval Host Plants:
Larvae feed on willows and poplars (Wagner, 2005). In the Southeast, willows are the primary hosts, particularly Black Willow (
Salix nigra
) and Coastal Plain Willow (
Salix carolininana
) (Miller et al., 2018). We have records of larvae feeding on both of these willow species in North Carolina. -
