Habitats and Life History
Habitats:
Larval Host Plants: Larvae probably feed on species of Malvaceae (Wagner et al., 2011). Robinson et al. (2010) list a number of non-native plants, including cotton, tomato, sweet potato, and Velvetleaf. We do not have any feeding records in North Carolina. - View

State Protection: Has no legal protection, although permits are required to collect it on state parks and other public lands.
Comments: This species is primarily tropical but is well established in Florida. Currently, it may also be extending its range northward along the coast. Inland records, however, probably represent strays. The residency status of this species in North Carolina still needs to be determined.
