Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Wagner et al. (2011) list fields, waste lots, and other open habitats as used by this species. However, almost all of our records come from pond, lake, and stream shorelines, which would be more consistent with an association with Sida spinosa or other members of the Mallow family.
Larval Host Plants: Wagner et al. (2011) reported finding two larvae on bindweed (Ipomoea) and unconfirmed larvae on Prickly Fanpetals (Sida spinosa). There is also a BugGuide record (George Smiley, 2022) of a larva feeding on Tievine (Ipomoea cordatotriloba) in Texas, and the HOSTS database (Robinson et al., 2010) lists Sweet Potato (Ipomoea batatas). We do not have any feeding records in North Carolina. - View
