Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Wagner et al. (2011) list woodlands and forests as habitats used by this species. The vast majority of our records come from the Mountains, where it occurs in high elevation forests, mountain bogs, riparian areas, and cove forests. Our few records from the Piedmont and Coastal Plain come from sites close to lakes and ponds.
Larval Host Plants: Larvae feed mainly on ferns, but they have also been reported from Alders, Willows, Asters, Huckleberries, Trilliums, and Sunflowers (Wagner et al., 2011) - View
