Comments: One of 29 species in this genus that occur in North America north of Mexico (Lafontaine and Schmidt, 2010). Fifteen species have been recorded in North Carolina.

Habitats and Life History
Habitats: The majority of our records come from bottomlands, swamps, and other wet habitats where False Nettle occurs. However, we also have several records from cove forests and stands of northern hardwoods, where other species of nettles are common.
Larval Host Plants: Larvae feed on False Nettle (Boehmeria cylindrica) (Wagner et al., 2011). - View
