Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Wagner et al. (2011) list woodlands and forests as habitats used by this species. Most of our records come from hardwood-dominated forests, but there are also a significant number from Longleaf Pine savannas, flatwoods, and sand ridges.
Larval Host Plants: Larvae are highly polyphagous, feeding on ferns, forbs, shrubs, hardwoods, and conifers. Wagner et al. (2011) specifically list fir (Abies), maple (Acer), fetterbush (Eubotrys), Sheep Laurel (Kalmia angustifolia), spruce (Picea), meadowsweet (Spiraea), hemlock (Tsuga), blueberry (Vaccinium), and Possumhaw Viburnum (Viburnum nudum). - View
