Distribution in North Carolina
Distribution: This species occurs in a small area of the Piedmont of both North and South Carolina located between the Catawba and Broad Rivers; Filka and Shelley (1980) found it to be particularly abundant in the Kings Mountain inselbergs located on the border of the two states.

State Protection:
Comments: This species has a very limited geographic range, particularly for a Piedmont species. Filka and Shelley (1980) recommended that it be state listed as Special Concern (which was probably not enacted since the state Endangered Wildlife Act excludes all Arthropods except Crustaceans). All of our few records for this species are historic.
