Comments: Abdomen, cephalathorax and legs green with black/reddish patch on dorsum in between rows of small red spots. Younger females look more translucent. Males have reddish/brown palps and bands on legs. Araneus cingulatus is similar but lacks the blackish/red patch.
Total Length: Very small, female 6 mm, male 4 mm.Adult ID: identifiable by photo
Distribution in North Carolina
Comments: Records from New York to Florida and west to Kansas and Texas, Adults April through August.
