Description: Large, brownish overall. The entire body and wings have a dense reticulated mesh-like dark brown pattern, extending onto the face. The vertex has a white tip, in front of a broken dark brown band between the eyes. Adults are between 9.0 and 10.0 mm long.

Habitats: Mixed hardwood forest, open woodlands, grassy areas, etc.
Plant Associates:
Behavior: Can be attracted at night with a light.
Comment: The subgenus Iowanus [within the genus Texananus] is very difficult to identify from images alone. An underside view is necessary to show the subgenital plates in males or pregenital sternite in females, as these features are distinguishable between the three similar species: caducus, longipennis, and majestus. Unless a ventral image or a specimen is obtained, the identification cannot go past subgenus. This page acts as an umbrella for any records for which this applies.
