Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Larvae are polyphagous, feeding on a wide range of trees. Wagner et al. (2011) specifically list maple (Acer), birch (Betula), American Hornbeam (Carpinus caroliniana), hazel (Corylus), American Beech (Fagus grandifolia), American Witch-hazel (Hamamelis virginiana), American Hop-hornbeam (Ostrya virginiana), cherry (Prunus), oak (Quercus), willow (Salix), American Basswood (Tilia americana), and elm (Ulmus) (Wagner et al., 2011). In North Carolina, our only feeding record is for Common Pawpaw (Asimina triloba).
