Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Wagner et al. (2011) list old fields, gardens, orchards, croplands, waste sites and other open habitats. We additionally have records from forests and woodlands.
Larval Host Plants: Members of this complex are highly polyphagous, feeding on a wide range of graminoids, forbs, and woody plants (Wagner et al., 2011). These include many species of agricultural importance. Heppner (2007) lists Celery (Apium graveolens), Cabbage (Brassica oleracea), Turnip (Brassica rapa), Cantaloupe (Cucumis melo), Sweet Potato (Ipomoea batatas), Garden Lettuce (Lactuca sativa), apple (Malus), Cultivated Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum), Garden Pea (Pisum sativum), Garden Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), and Corn (Zea mays).
