Identification
Field Guide Descriptions: Online Resources: MPG, BugGuide, iNaturalist, Google, BAMONA, GBIF, BOLDTechnical Description, Adults: Forbes (1923); Klots (1970)
Adult Markings: A small, pale yellowish-brown crambid. The veins are white, with the interspaces having a central yellow line bounded by brown streaks; streaks opposite the cell and in the fold are particularly dark (Forbes, 1923). Transverse lines are absent but there is a series of dark spots along the terminus. The discal spot is also dark and well-marked. Hindwings are nearly white. Xubida panalope is similar in size, color, and pattern but the veins are marked with fine dark lines rather than white. "Needs close up or enough detail to see pattern of dark lines on wing" (Scholtens, 2017)
Wingspan: 15-18 mm (Forbes, 1923)
Adult Structural Features: Male reproductive structures are used as key characters in a key provided by Klots (1970); a detailed description and illustrations are also provided.
Adult ID Requirements: Identifiable from good quality photos of unworn specimens.

Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Our records come from both xeric and wet habitats. Most appear to be fairly open but there are several from closed canopy forests. Several are from residential neighborhoods.
Larval Host Plants: Larval host plants are apparently unknown. Klots (1970) states that many species in this group are borers in the soft stems of monocots. - View
