Adult Markings: "Easily recognized by the rather abundant, scattered-brownish-red scales on the forewing (Neunzig, 1997). According to Heinrich (1958), the red scaling is heaviest between the middle of the wing and the inner margin, with the costal area most heavily scaled with white.
Forewing Length: 5.0-8.5 mm (Neunzig, 1997)
Adult Structural Features: The labial palpus is oblique to upturned in this genus (Neunzig, 1997).
Adult ID Requirements: Identifiable from good quality photos of unworn specimens.
Immatures and Development: Larvae are usually predators of various scale insects and mealybugs (Coccoidea). Laetilia also has been observed feeding on the flowers of plants infested with scales (Neunzig, 1997).
