Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Barrens, woodlands, and forests (Wagner, 2005). Our records come from dune grasslands on barrier islands, longleaf pine savannas and flatwoods, and dry ridges.
Larval Host Plants: Larvae are polyphagous, feeding on apple, cherry, oaks, and probably other hardwood trees and shrubs (Wagner, 2005). In North Carolina, we have feeding records for Yaupon Holly (Ilex vomitoria) and Live Oak (Quercus virginiana). J.B. Sullivan also reared larvae from or recorded larvae feeding on Inkberry (Ilex glabra), American Hop-hornbeam (Ostrya virginiana), Bluejack Oak (Quercus incana), and Sparkleberry (Vaccinium arboreum). - View
