Field Guide Descriptions: Online Resources:
Adult Markings: This is an undescribed species that is virtually identical to X. lacustrata and that was documented by Bo Sullivan in Ashe County. It is best identified by genitalia or barcoding, with the female genitalia being most distinctive. As of 2025, this species is currently known from three sites in western North Carolina and in nearby Tennessee. It is typically found above 4000' or slightly lower on north-facing slopes. In general it seems to be slightly larger and more brightly colored, but these features are not diagnostic (J.B. Sullivan, pers. comm.).
