Adult Structural Features: Males have pectinate antennae, females filiform. Smaller than D. spadaria; spring males (forewing length: 16–17 mm [16–20 mm for D. spadaria]), slightly larger than summer males (forewing length: 14–15 mm); some small individuals (forewing length: 12–13 mm) late in season; females of D. fusselli (forewing length: 16 mm) smaller than those of D. spadaria (forewing length: 18–21 mm) but larger than those of D. bistrialis (Lafontaine and Sullivan, 2015)
Adult ID Requirements: Identifiable only by close inspection of structural features or by DNA analysis.

Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Salt marshes and tidal creeks (Lafontaine and Sullivan, 2015)
Larval Host Plants: Captive larvae feed on Saltmarsh Cordgrass (Spartina alterniflora), which is probably a main host in the wild (Lafontaine and Sullivan, 2015). - View
