Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Records from the Piedmont and Coastal Plain come from floodplain forests and mesic hardwood forests growing on slopes. In the Mountains, records come from alluvial forests and cove forests.
Larval Host Plants: Reported hosts include maple (Acer), birch (Betula), hickory (Carya), beech (Fagus), hop-hornbeam (Ostrya), oak (Quercus), basswood (Tilia), and elm (Ulmus) (Crumb, 1956; Heppner, 2007; Robinson et al., 2010; Beadle & Leckie, 2012).
