Habitats and Life History
Habitats: Inhabits woodlands and forests across its wide range in eastern North America (Wagner et al., 2011). In North Carolina, records cove mainly from bottomland hardwoods or mesic forests.
Larval Host Plants: Larvae are polyphagous on a wide range of trees and shrubs. Wagner et al. (2011) specifically list maple (Acer), birch (Betula), hickory (Carya), hawthorn (Crataegus), American Beech (Fagus grandifolia), ash (Fraxinus), witch-hazel (Hamamelis), apple (Malus), American Hop-hornbeam (Ostrya virginiana), poplar (Populus), cherry (Prunus), oak (Quercus), willow (Salix), American Basswood (Tilia americana), and Cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon). We do not have any feeding records in North Carolina. - View
